Systems Biology Unit (SBU)

The Systems biology unit (SBU) was established in 2004 by Tomi Makela and Jussi Taipale primarily to provide enabling technologies for genome-scale biological experiments. In 2006 Sampsa Hautaniemi was recruited and bioinformatics services have become a significant activity. In 2010 due to Biocenter Finland tech platform network divisions the bioinfo services will remain here in SBU, whereas genome-wide methods related services are coordinated within the Genome Biology Unit (GBU). Bioinformatics, experimental design, data analysis and interpretation are the main focus of the SBU.
